Modern Warfare 3 is a first-person shooter video game, like its predecessors. Modern Warfare 3 for Microsoft Windows supports dedicated servers.
Players take on the role of different characters in the single-player campaign, changing perspectives as the story progresses, which, like previous installments, is divided into three quest sequences known as “Acts”. Each mission in an action has a series of targets displayed on the live display, marking the direction and distance between those targets and the player. Damage to the player is indicated by visualizing blood or red marks on the screen. The player’s health will recover over time as long as the player’s character avoids taking damage for a limited time. Mission objectives have varying requirements, from getting the player to a specific checkpoint, eliminating enemies in a specific location, fending off enemy armies, controlling weapons from a distance. and place explosives on enemy facilities. Players can also accompany teammates who cannot receive orders. Like its predecessor, the game includes an interactive scene of a terrorist attack on civilians that the player has the option of skipping due to potentially offensive graphics and content, including harmful effects on children.
