Grand Theft Auto IV is an action-adventure game played in the third person. Players complete quests (linear scenarios with set goals) to progress along the story. Multiple quests can be done at the same time, as some quests require the player to wait for instructions or other events. In addition to the quest, the player is free to roam the game’s open world and complete optional side quests. Consisting of the fictional town of Liberty City, the world is larger than most previous installments in the Grand Theft Auto series. At the start of the game, the player can only explore the first island, including the Duke and Broker, and all other islands will be unlocked as the story progresses.
The game’s stealth system allows the player to move between hiding positions, shoot blindly, aim freely, and target a specific enemy. Individual parts of the body can also be targeted.[8] Melee attacks include additional moves, such as dodging, blocking, disarming opponents, and counterattacks. Armor can be used to absorb gunfire and explosion damage, but they will deplete in the process. When the health is completely depleted, the game is over and the player will respawn at the nearest hospital.
The single player mode puts the player in the role of an Eastern European war veteran, Niko Bellic. Throughout the story, Niko meets and befriends many new characters. Then they can help Niko whenever he asks; For example, cousin Roman, who owns a taxi service, can send one of his taxis to take Niko to any destination in town. Taxis are always available in the game for fast travel to the destination. Throughout the game, the player is also faced with moral choices that will alter the plot accordingly based on their choices. Freely roaming the game world, players can engage in context-specific activities such as bowling or darts. Other activities available include a vigilance mini-game and in-game TV show. Niko has a cell phone to keep in touch with friends and start activities. Mobile phones are also used to access the game’s online multiplayer mode and enter cheat codes. To access the game’s Internet, allow Niko to send and receive e-mail, and arrange potential dates with potential girlfriends, Niko can use Internet cafes located in the city. The game also features a subway system, allowing the player to quickly navigate the game world.
